2006 American Buffalo Gold Coin or just a Gold Buffalo is a 24-karat bullion gold coin minted by the US Mint and it's the first year of the series. The coins has gold composition of 99.99% and that is the first time the United States Government issued a 24-karat gold coin for the public. The 2006 American Buffalo gold coin comes both in proof and brilliant uncirculated finishes and was originally priced at $800, but after a few years of adjustments, "The First Strike" issue is priced much higher and selling sometimes for over $1,200.
