Reverse
Mexican 50 Pesos Gold Coin was first minted in 1921 to commemorate the Centennial of Independence. The gold composition of the coin was 0.9000 with the gold content of 1.2057 oz. The 50 Pesos gold coin weighed 41.6666 g and had a diameter of 37 mm. The coin was designed by Emilio del Moral and was featuring national arms on the obverse (Mexican eagle holding a snake, wings down), and Winged Victory on the reverse of the coin.
The Winged Victory, depicted on the obverse of the 50 Pesos gold coin, is in fact the Winged Victory of Samothrace. A marble statue of the Greek goddess Nike (Victory); the statue itself doesn't have a head and is dated back to 220-190 BC. It was displayed in the Louvre, Paris since 1884 and believed to be erected by Demetrius I Poliorcetes, a Macedonian general, after his victory at Cyprus somewhere between 295 and 289 BC.
The 50 Pesos gold coin was originally minted as a normal commemorative coin, but between 1949 and 1972 the very same coin was restruck in almost 4 million copies, most of them dated 1947, which made coins of the last year issue pretty much gold bullion coins. The coins issued in prior years still have their numismatic values.

The 50 Pesos gold coin described above was the only Mexican 50 Pesos coin struck in gold until 1957 when a single issue commemorating the Centennial of the Mexican Constitution was minted. Both coins had the same specs (41.6666 g, 0.9000 Gold, 1.2057 oz), but the second one is a medallic coin (not common for Mexican coins) and the mintage of this coin was much less. It was issued in pair with the 20 Pesos gold coin, commemorating the same event, and the mintage for two of them was only 73,000. This 50 Pesos gold coin is not very often available, but you still will see them if they're currently listed.
